Our Crazy Family Chicago Vacation

It had been quite a few years since my family and I have taken a holiday, especially due to tightening our belts like so many other people have done due to the economy. My only nephew asked his girlfriend to wed him and that’s's all it took! Found out the day of the wedding, my husband and I both had vacation time coming from work so we decided to go to the wedding and make it a holiday as well. So when it came time we packed out bags, loaded everything up and got moving.

This was no little trip. It is almost 1200 miles back to my childhood home town in IL so there would be lots of time spent driving. Unfortunately not all of our problems got left behind at home. After a few hours of driving the first day I had began sensed some lower stomach discomfort. To be completely honest I really thought it was a mix of being anxious, excitement and maybe just sitting for too much time. But by the end of our first day the discomfort had become worse. When we finally stopped for the night I attempted to settle back and stretch out some, wishing that it would improve, but there wasn’t any change. It was so bad I though we would have to go to a nearest ER. I made the decision to try and get a good nights rest and make the choice in the morning. Before I went to bed I called my mom to inform her where we were at and what was going on. After describing the symptoms I was having and Mom told me she had the same symptoms the time she was having issues with ovarian cysts. She told me about some of the different treatment of ovarian cysts and how this one natural treatment worked best for her. So I decided to go to the ER that night, just to confirm what was happening.

I’m sure each and every one of you have experienced going to the ER at one time during your life or another. Well, the one we visited was phenomenally filled. Let me say this, agony or no discomfort, waiting in a room full of ill and wounded folks wasn’t a very good atmosphere. The combination of all these elements truly pushed my anxiety. As time went by with people coming in and out continually, waiting to be seen while experiencing a great deal of discomfort it was eventually enough and I began having a panic attack. All I would have liked to do was get out of there, agony or no pain. I should confess, if it wasn’t for the aid my husband had given me, along with the tools I learned about overcoming panic attacks I truly feel I would have left. Eight hours later I walked out feeling slightly better so far as the agony. The anxiety and panic had gotten better and the ultrasound confirmed that I had a single ovarian cyst. There was no cause for alarm though I recieved a prescription for discomfort if necessary, some guidelines on stuff to keep clear of and told to check in with my GP when we got back home.

We made it up to Chicago and over the next few days the pain subsided. I was still experiencing a little anxiety, but it was more likely anticipation about what exactly was happening. In fact one evening we all met up and went out to eat at one of our favourite cafes. This is the type of food you just cannot find in the south where we live, so we all did a little bit of over eating during that evening. My hubby went a bit more overboard then he should have. I could tell as he discussed that he needed one of his remedies for heartburn before we even even made it back to our room. We laughed at it, but the remainder of the night he was in some pain due to his acid reflux and heartburn.

Actually it definitely was a wonderful time. The Wedding was perfect and went off without any problems. It had been a night to remember. Essentially the whole vacation was one to recollect. We started off a little rocky but the time was well spent surrounded by family and buddies that we hadn’t seen in years. That was one of the best holidays the my family and I took in a long time.

Sophia is a successful model and a student at the same time. She does some runway gigs and pictorials as assigned by her modeling agency. She likes her part-time jobs due to she is into fashion. She enjoys buying clothes, bags and especially shoes. She has bought tons of shoes since she was a teenager. And since she is still in school, her room is usually very disorganized.

She does not have the time to fix her things every time. After her modeling gig she would usually leave her shoes behind the door. Her shoes can almost cover her room owing to they are too many. Her mom always tells her to put her shoes back in the boxes and stack them up. But she declines to do so because she finds it tough to find a particular pair of shoes that she needs when she is modeling. So she decides to leave her shoes on the floor because she can easily see which one she would like to wear.

Her mom really wanted to clean up Sophia’s room so she went to a home depot and tried to find the best storage for shoes for her daughter. She found different cabinets that have cubby holes for shoes. The cabinets come in different designs, prices and sizes. She decided to buy the biggest one since she knew that her daughter has many of shoes.

When she got back home, she put the shoes in each slot. Sophia was pleasantly surprised when she arrived home. Her room became spacious again additionally when she opens her cabinet she can see her shoes so looking for the right one is not difficult at all. She even decided to sort the shoes according to their color so that it will be easier. Since there is a space for her each pair of shoes, she doesn’t have to worry about losing the other pair. She ecstatic with her new shoe storage.

Introduction

When I decided I needed a website for my business I had no idea of the planning involved. Like most people, I thought web design meant deciding on the graphics and the look of the pages and then by some magic it would all happen.
I have a friend who is in the business of web design and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) so I approached him for a quote. As a complete novice who is computer literate up to a point, I was amazed at the depth of initial questioning required to find out exactly what my requirements were.

I had no idea about the various aspects and the structure of the site and I found it mind blowing when I learned about the amount of work involved. So I thought other people would be interested to know more about this complicated process and I have asked my friend to supply the technical information for this article.

Stages in the Process

Target Audience

Before building a website there are important questions to consider. I was asked who would be my potential audience. Who are my customers likely to be? Would they be children, businesses, home owners, sales people, parents or teenagers and so on?

The objective of the website

Then I was asked, what was the purpose of my website? Did I want to sell products on line or use it to market my business and get more leads for possible customers? Maybe I would want to use it as an online brochure to showcase products. Another possibility was to use the website to foster a community so that I was in contact with other like-minded people, with chat rooms, online discussion and being supported by advertising on the site.

I hadn’t quite realised the scope of a website but as I was asked these questions it became clear that a lot of careful planning went into the preparation before building a website.

How to be Found on the Web

One of the first questions I was asked was, ‘Do you want it to be found by Google the main search engine?’ If I did then there was a whole process of establishing Keywords. So finding the best keywords are vital if you want to be found in Google. Generally most users only look at the top ten results so you will also want to promote your website to get on this page for your chosen keywords. By using a keyword research tool you can find the single most popular keyword for your industry.

Your Domain Name

Choosing a domain name is often quite a challenge because every name you initially come up with will almost certainly have been taken. Domain names ending in .com are by far the most popular and internationally recognised; the snag is that it’s very popularity means that the majority of the shorter names have already been registered.
So looking at names with endings such as .net; .co.uk or .info may be able to provide you with the domain name you want.

 

We were fortunate with the asbestos survey domain to get advice about registering it quickly and we managed to get one with the word demolition in it, which also happens to be part of our trading name.

When choosing your domain name it is very important to include one or more of your keywords if possible as this can apparently help with search engine rankings. So although the name of your business is the obvious choice for a domain name, it is not necessarily the only option.

Creating a Site Map

As with any project you must have a plan, the better the plan the better the project turns out. A site map for a web site is part of the plan for the site. The importance of creating a site map is to get it clear in your mind of all the pages you will have on your website so you can prepare the content for each page and begin to design the flow through the website, such as when a user adds a product to their basket, then enters their delivery and billing address and makes the credit card payment in the correct order.

The aim is to make the site as simple to use as possible so that there are no barriers to getting into the website. For that reason often user name and passwordz are set for the customer so that they are not put off making a purchase by having to register.
For a non e-commerce site things are simpler with a contact form which allows you to receive enquiries by email without publishing your email address on the website, thus avoiding spam.Web forms can also validate the information before you receive it, so ensuring that the phone number provided does not contain words, and that the email address is in the correct format, for example. These things may sound very technical to us lay-folk but I assure you everything has to be decided on before starting on the construction of the site.

Copy

The next stage is preparing the copy. This is not the design of your website – just the words and visuals you want to have one each of the pages.Having gathered all the previous information you will need to decide what imagery you want to use within the website content. As we all know, a picture speaks a thousand words and remains in people’s memory far longer than just words.For each image you should also have a caption, as the caption of an image is the next ‘most read’ words on the page after the page title. Images and their captions need to be clickable. When you click on a picture it should take you to the next stage of the process such as the sale page or placing an enquiry if your website is for lead generation.

Navigation

Another important aspect when building a website is how you want your navigation to work. You can have links within the content of your website, in the text, so there are not just links from the menu. You will need to decide whether the links will open into a new window, retaining your original page open. Next time you go online, you will realise how much thought has gone into the way in which a website works.

Website Design

Finally we come to the design of your website. Having asked my SEO web design contact about this part of the process he explained that because everyone has their own tastes it can be difficult to please all of the people involved in reviewing the design work for search engine optimisation.

What one person might like, another person might not like. If you are setting up a website for yourself alone then you will probably have some idea of what you want to see on the site. But if, as so often happens, the website is for a large corporation there will be inputs from many people or departments and you can be sure that they will never all agree!

There are a number of ways to approach web design but ultimately you need to create a design brief for the designer(s) to work from. Look at other websites and your competitor’s websites to find out what you like or dislike. The design brief should give reference to the logo, any existing brand guidelines or schemes and fonts and colour schemes, and should also detail which pages of the website that the designer is being tasked with creating visuals for.

The very best results will be achieved by using a graphic designer, and beware – not all graphic designers are the same. A graphic designer who designs specifically for print is working in a different discipline than a graphic designer who designs for screen and specifically the web. So choose your designer carefully, look at other work that person has done and determine whether or not you like their style.

If you are working in the big time and budget allows, use multiple graphic designers who have all been given the same design brief and request three concept designs from each designer. If the client themselves also do a graphic design, even if it’s a back of the envelope scribble, you will then have 10 concept designs. The next step is to get them all together and select the preferred elements from each design. Then give the work to the selected graphic designer to work up as the final artwork.

The artwork should be finalised and agreed on by everybody before construction of the site begins.

Production

Finally the preparation has been done and the site is ready to be built. Now for the more technical stuff! You will need to have decided which programming language to use to build the website. There are two main types for developing a website, one is Unix based, and the other is Windows based. Each one has pros and cons. If you are starting from scratch then it probably won’t matter, so you can go with the preference of your professional doing the work. My website is built on the Unix platform (apparently!) which is the same as many of the more well known websites such as Ebay, Facebook, Google and Amazon. Also your website hosting must be compatible with the development language with which your website is built.

Accessibility and Compliance

The website has to meet the current standards for website coding and doing so insures that disabled users, such as the visually impaired, can still access the entire website if they are using a Braille web browser.

Website Development

The best way to develop a website is on the web Server where the site is going to live. This way, those involved in reviewing the work can see work in progress and provide feedback throughout the development.

Unforeseen items

There are always some things that arise in any project which you suddenly realise you have forgotten, so no matter how well the web developer prepares and asks the right questions, there will always be a last minute change or addition. The main aim is to minimise the number of glitches that might arise because they aren’t calculated in and they could cause extra costs and delays on the date of the website going live.

Publishing Your New Website

The moment of excitement comes when your site finally is published to the internet and you see the results of all the thought that has gone into the whole process. I spent many hours working with the web agency to get the demolitions site just right for our company before taking it live, and when the day came to publish it I was really pleased at all our hard work.

Reporting and Monitoring

Once your website is up and running, you might like to know how many people visit your website and from that number how many actually buy the products or place an enquiry. From these statistics you can work out the ratio of visits to sales and gradually make changes to improve the ratios. There are some reliable statistics packages such as Google Analytics or Web-Stat.com which allow you to collect and review website visitor data in near real time. All you need to do this is to have a small block of code inserted into each web page on your site.

Another useful service that Web-stat.com provides is to monitor the website and warn you by email or text message if the site is offline. Google Analytics doesn’t yet provide a comparable uptime monitoring service, maybe they just decided it was too much of a headache as it is an intensive service checking a website every 5 minutes to make sure it is still responding and indeed web-stat do promote this difference as one of their unique selling points but it is pretty hard to compete with free. In fact Google Analytics is not quite free, which makes it an even better marketing decision for Google because sometimes it is harder to give things away for free than it is to sell them! Google Analytics is a free service available to Google AdWords advertisers, you don’t actually have to have any AdWords campaigns running but it will cost you a one-time activation fee of £5 (or similar in your local currency) to open your AdWords account, but once you have done that you can go on to use Google Analytics for as many websites as you like.

Marketing

Once the website is live there are lots of things you can do to market your product or service. The first step is to submit it to the search engines and at the same time write articles, and press releases. Wheww. What an amazing amount of work! I hadn’t realised when I started the process of getting a website up and running, how complicated it all is and how many factors you have to consider before even designing the website. The word web design is really a misnomer, as people often think it’s just about the graphic design on the home page, and the branding of the product. Unless you are a computer buff, most people have no idea how much goes into designing and building a website and the systems that support the work you want it to do. Hobby enthusiasts know that spare time is not to be “spent” but savored. If you have a past time you enjoy, you will never look at your spare time in the same way again. If you’re not sure what past time hobby you would enjoy, here are some hobby ideas.

Many people listen to music as a favorite past time. There is much you can learn about any style of music. You can learn composers, well-known melodies, and all about performers past and present. You can develop sophisticated tastes in jazz or classical music or collect a large assortment of CD’s. Music makes a great past time hobby.

A lot of people love animals. Pets of all sorts can become your new hobby. Perhaps you enjoy watching birds. If you have trouble finding them in the trees to watch, maybe you’d like to get a pair of canaries, a budgie, or a cockatiel. People who live in the country sometimes become interested in raising ornamental chickens, pigeons, or pheasants. It is very interesting to watch a mother bird take care of a nest of young chicks. Dogs make a great hobby, too. Walking and enjoying a pet dog is one thing, but breeding and raising show dogs is something else entirely. Show dogs may need a bit of an investment, but many puppies are free. There is also the condition of training a dog in obedience. Dogs give a lot of love back to their owners, too, so if you start a past time hobby of caring for a dog, you will never be lonely. However, dogs require quite a bit of work and attention, especially when they are being trained, so keeping dogs is not for everyone.

Bicycles can become your favorite past time. Hobby bicyclists are becoming more and more common to see cycling along lesser traveled highways seeing the countryside up close and personal. Bicycling requires a helmet and suitable clothes as well as a small tool kit for roadside repairs. Or maybe you would enjoy cycling on a smaller scale, simply taking fun rides with your family. The choice is yours.

The world is full of interesting things to learn and do. Don’t merely sit back and watch TV. Get interested in past time hobbies. It’s good for your mind. In fact, it might even keep you from going senile in your old age, if you stay active in a past time hobby. And it’s a good example to our kids and grandkids if we spend our time doing something meaningful.

Choosing an acrylic aquarium fish tank

The hobby of keeping aquarium tanks has been with us since the late 1800′s. The original aquaria were fairly crude, as you would expect back then.

These ancient aquariums generally only had one side made of glass. The rest? Made of metal or wood! Most aquarium fish tanks contained only fish that were native to the owner’s area, simply because that was all that was easily available. Also most old school fish tanks also contained only fresh water fish. Salt water, as you might expect, would corrode the metal frame that held the aquarium together. Fish such as the Siamese fighting fish just weren’t keepable.

Back in the 1960′s the invention of silicone adhesive changed everything. Metal frames became obsolete and more people started to keep salt water fish and invertebrates. Recently, a wider choice of tanks has become available because of the flexibility and strength of acrylic.

Acrylic aquarium fish tanks are far more for forgiving than glass tanks. If a heavy object strikes a glass tank, it will almost certainly break – with the consequent loss of fish and possible danger of injury to you, with all the broken glass.

Acrylic tanks have a flexiblity that can prevent breakage from happening in the first place. In addition, acrylic offers more flexibility in design than glass. Acrylic aquariums have been made into everything from coffee tables to gum ball machines. In fact in many cases the aquarium is so decorative you no longer need any extra aquarium ornaments.

There is one big downfall to owning an acrylic aquarium tank, as every owner will tell you. They scratch more easily than glass, much more easily than glass. When it’s time to clean your acrylic aquarium always be careful not to use materials like paper towels, which are rougher than they look,, or harsh or abrasive chemicals. They tend to scratch the acrylic surface of the aquarium.

Once you know about common causes of back pain you may have a better understanding of how to prevent and treat it in the first place.

Losing a few pounds may appear to be a difficult option but of it can be well worth the effort to lose weight when you get some relief for that pain.  Minding your posture, training yourself to lift with your legs – these small changes can add up to big relief for your back.

But you may need to do more than all of this.  You take all the precautions possible and still you have back pain – after all, you can’t very well live your life in a recliner or refuse to pick up your children just to keep yourself safe from potential injury!  So when you have soreness and pain, what can you do?

RELIEVING THE PRESSURE

The muscles of the back are usually able to heal and repair themselves from minor injury, and sometimes the pain you feel is simply those muscles cramping up to protect themselves so that they can heal. Relieving the pressure on your back can help your body to heal on its own.

Of course, as we’ve already mentioned there is virtually no movement a human can make that doesn’t involve the back. Even while you are sitting, the back muscles are working to keep your upper body straight and supported.

Keeping this in mind, you realize how important it is to be in a reclined position that tilts your body back and relieves that pressure on your midsection.  When your feet are higher than your pelvic area then you have less pressure on your back and it can heal.  Many have found that stretching out on the floor with pillows under the knees can help tremendously, however, do not put the pillows under your feet.  This puts added pressure on the area of the hips and this causes the back muscles to tense up even more.

If you’re laying flat on your stomach your back is still working as the front of your body collapses and your back keeps you straight.  You can instead use cushions or pillows under your stomach and upper body area to support yourself so that the back is not working as hard.

HEAT

Why is it that heat can help to relieve body pain?  Simply put, heat draws blood to that area of the body where heat is applied and blood delivers important nutrients and healing elements.  When you apply heat to your muscles they relax because the increased blood flow forces them to “unclench” themselves, and especially in areas of the back can this be important.

When your back is in pain you don’t want to go overboard with the heat and of course there are injuries and other ailments that won’t be responsive to heat – for example if you have a herniated disk that’s not going to be healed with a heating pad! – but often muscles that have been overworked and strained can relax with a simple application of heat. If you’re at work all day see if it is somehow possible to arrange a heating pad behind you for the duration of the day. If you notice that your back is starting to tense up then lean back and stay that way for a few minutes so that the heat has a chance to work.

Even though they are not boiling, care needs to be taken when using heating pads on bare skin. It’s not safe to sleep on top of one or to have it turned up too high.  Keep a piece of cloth between your skin and the heating pad – if it doesn’t have its own cover be sure to use a thin towel, sheet, or shirt.

Moist heat can also help the body to relax as the moisture loosens the muscles and skin as well.  You can get a thin towel or washcloth wet and put it between the heating pad and your back.

Having a hot shower or bath can be a big help in relieving that pressure.  A shower massage especially can work those muscles like a massage and force them to loosen up and soothe back pain.

STRETCHING

When those back muscles want to clamp up sometimes you need to force them to relax so as to cut down on the pain.  Stretching your back and your sides is a great way to reduce your pain.

However this calls for extreme caution.It’s possible to do more damage by overextending yourself.  It’s also important to make sure that you’re stretching properly so that you don’t put added stress on your back. Without the proper support many bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts actually do a lot of damage to their back when stretching and working out.

Usually it’s best to sit on the floor and put your hands behind you and just stretch your back slightly.  This will give it support as you pull those muscles loose.  Moving forward carefully and slowly until your body is extended out in front of you can also loosen those muscles.

Flexion and extension

In terms of stretching, flexion means bending forward and extension means moving backwards.The release of pressure on the vertebrae when you stretch forward helps to alleviate pain caused by grinding between them.  Sometimes just standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and bending straight forward to touch your toes can help to alleviate back pressure and pain.  You need to watch your posture even as you do this so that you’re not curling yourself up and putting more pressure on your spine, but a simple stretch like this can help to loosen those tight and sore muscles.

Be careful when bending backwards that you watch your posture and make sure you don’t overextend.  Some have a tendency to think of a particular area they want to touch or span they want to reach, but you need to be mindful of your body’s own flexibility.

EXERCISE

Does anyone really like to exercise? Sure, there are obviously some who do but not everyone is like this.  Most people see exercise as a chore to be dreaded and would rather spend their free time stretched out in a favorite chair in front of the television or movie screen.

What a time I’ve had of late it all commenced with a problem with my bath leaking well anyway I tried to find a local plumber in the localised phone directory – who could appear within a week no luck there Anyhow I made up one’s mind to do a search on google for  Leeds Plumbers. Struck gold with that one there they where on-line .Anyways I filled in the contact form and inside of about 25 minutes I received a phone call to set up an appointment .That’s what I call service.To cut a long story short they came out the said day and where quite a bit cheaper than the company who would not get to me for almost a week.

Shortly after the original problem was solved don’t I get a phone call from a acquaintance alleging somebody has rammed into his motorcar from behind and are abnegating any obligation. Not really sure how that works as they clearly rammed into his car. Well hot on my winner with google and the phantom plumbers don’t I get online and go looking for a Leeds Solicitors for him.
